Program Details

HIR is a two-year program designed to help social ventures better understand and scale their impact and business models; and to assist them in accessing resources to implement their next level of growth.

Time Commitment

Year One: 3 four-day cohort workshops and 1 three-day workshop. Year Two: 3 two-day workshops and 1 four-day workshop. Meetings during the first year occur monthly from the end of July to the end of September with a presentation to the community in November. Meetings during the second year occur quarterly and are one day with an optional second day of coaching.  Additional coaching occurs outside the cohort meetings on an as needed basis as determined by the enterprise and program facilitators.

Number of participants per enterprise

We ask that two senior decision-makers from each enterprise participate. Based on feedback from the founding cohort, the opportunity for venture leaders to collaborate and learn together is critical to realizing the full potential of the cohort experience.

Cost of program

Our Financial Model

We are a grant funded non-profit. Program delivery costs us approximately $6,000 per year per cohort member. In order to build a resilient financial model based on the value we bring to the cohort we have developed a subsidized fee model.

Participant Fees

Participant Fees for the Program are $1000 per person per year. The balance is subsidized through our founder/supporters.  Costs covered by our program include:  travel to workshop venue, accommodations, facilitators, and materials.

Cohort Program for 2017-2018

We are currently recruiting through March 31st, 2017. Potential participants are nominated by others or self-nominate.  Phone interviews are conducted followed by enterprise information gathering.  Selection criteria are based on: impact, business maturity, needs, desire to learn, fit with cohort make-up, interviews and data gathered.

The first three workshops are held at Kilauea Military Camp on the Island of Hawai’i. The cohort presentation is held on O’ahu in Honolulu.
